I find it hard to believe that these birds were on the edge of extinction when I left the UK (the best part of 20 years ago) and now you can see them in Gateshead of all places!!!

Red Kites are lovely to watch. I saw my first in Wales in the early 1990's and have recently seen one very close to home in Cheshire.
