Looking for spring

Today Piotr and I decided to check what's going on at the ponds near Opole. It's generally a great place to watch the nature, but still there is not as much to see as usually. Ponds are frozen so no sign of ducks or swans. There was a heron somewhere, actually there were heron's tracks on the ice, but we didn't spot heron itself.  As a special treat I was able to take photo of this beautiful buzzard and finally came across Great Grey Shrike posing as a model

While we stopped for a while during our trip to the top of Snowdon, this beauty came and very politely asked for something to eat.

Seals

I think that I can say that seals are my favorite animals or at lest very high on the 'favorite list'. Anyway, last year my husband and I had a pleasure to visit Rathlin once more. No Puffins this time, since it was middle of September, but we were lucky to enjoy unusually beautiful weather and what is more a great company of these amazing creatures. 

Puffins

I saw Puffin in wild only once, two years ago in the Rathlin Island. Unfortunately I didn't have good camera, so the photos are rather poor quality, but still the bird is cute, isn't it?

Jubilee River

One of the walks I always enjoy is Jubilee River Walk from Burnham to Windsor. Even in winter there's always something to watch. These photos were taken in December 2009. 

Herons

I took these photos in October. It was such a beautiful day, so we went to the trip to the mountains, but eventually we ended up at the lakes (actually the fish ponds) where we found these beauties - Grey Heron and Great White Egret.

Hawfinch

Few years ago they came regularly whole winter. Unfortunately now they don't appear near houses any longer. Shame. Maybe one day...!

Collared Doves

They've been living in the walnut tree in my garden for few years, or at least I think that's the same pair all the time. We are get on pretty well - they come to visit me from time to time, appreciate food and wake me up very early, and I love taking photos of them, especially when they have an argument.

Deer

Not very far from the place we live there are fields - great place for cross-country skiing,walks and nature watching. Piotr spotted these lovely creature in February last year.

The apple is mine!

This Blackbird lives in my terrace all winter and I must say that he's a bit selfish - doesn't like to share apples with other birds.

This beauty comes to my garden for walnuts and sometimes let me takes some photos.

Owls II

What I loved the most about owl center was baby owls. You wouldn't believe, but I was allowed to feed them. I must say it was life experience - never before did i have chance to touch baby owl, not mention feeding it!
